  • Works on modeling and optimization of passenger transportation, freight and cargo distribution operations.
  • Contributes to the reduction of carbon dioxide emissions from transportation operations by developing mathematical models and algorithms.
  • Optimizes vehicle routes by developing heuristic algorithms such as genetic algorithm, simulated annealing, large neighborhood search.
  • Conducts a TÜBİTAK project on integration, routing and scheduling of electric vehicles in home health care services.


Biography

Dr. Çağrı Koç is an Associate Professor of Operations Research in Department of Business Administration at Social Sciences University of Ankara (ASBU). Prior to joining the ASBU in 2017, he worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow at HEC Montreal (Business School) and at CIRRELT (Interuniversity Research Centre on Enterprise Networks, Logistics and Transportation) in Canada. He received his Ph.D. degree (2015) in Operational Research from the Southampton Business School of University of Southampton in United Kingdom, and MSc and BSc degrees in Industrial Engineering in Turkey. He is the recipient of the Doctoral Award from the Operational Research Society (United Kingdom) in 2015, the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) CAREER Award in 2019 and Postgraduate Publication Awards from the University of Southampton. He has taught at University of Southampton, ASBU, and TOBB University of Economics and Technology, and has given many seminars at prestigious academic institutions. His research mainly focuses on the application of mathematical and metaheuristic optimization techniques to sustainable transportation, supply chain and logistics management problems, more specifically to vehicle routing and scheduling problems. Dr. Koç has published over 20 peer-reviewed publications in prestigious academic journals including Transportation Research Part B and C, European Journal of Operational Research, Computers and Operations Research, the Journal of the Operational Research Society, and among others.
