  • As a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Warwick, he developed a deep learning-based model for manipulative visual content detection.

Biography

Associate Professor Dr. Ali DURDU received his bachelor's degree in 2007, his master's degree in 2012, and his doctorate in 2016 from the Department of Computer Engineering at Sakarya University. In his doctoral dissertation, he worked on data hiding and secure communication methods, specializing in steganography and steganalysis techniques.

His academic interests include data hiding using chaotic systems, artificial neural networks and deep learning-based manipulation detection, image processing, identifying misleading content on social media platforms, and digital forensics. With 46 academic publications and 300 citations, Dr. Durdu contributes to these studies both nationally and internationally.

In the 2024–2025 academic year, he is working as a one-year postdoctoral researcher at the University of Warwick's Computer Science Department on the project titled "Development of a Deep Learning Model for Detecting Manipulative Visual Content on Social Media Platforms." As part of this project, he is developing a multimodal deep learning model for the artificial intelligence detection of manipulated visual content shared on social media platforms.

In addition to his academic duties, Dr. Durdu also assumed administrative responsibilities. He led the university's digital transformation processes, particularly during his tenure as Head of ASBU's Information Technology Department, and played an active role in the development of distance education, information security, and enterprise automation systems. His mastery of the software systems needed by universities and his experience in developing these systems make him one of the leading academics in his field.

Dr. Durdu currently teaches courses in Management Information Systems, Data Security, Programming Languages (Python, C, Java), and Information Systems Analysis, and serves as a manager and researcher on national and international projects.
